Marantz 2220B won't do FM stereo, advice?

This heatwave has forced me to set up a turntable in my bedroom and I am LOVING it! Here is my issue however: I hooked up a Marantz 2220B receiver and a Pioneer PL 570 which work wonderfully together, but the tuner section of the receiver won't do stereo. I can't seem to figure out the problem. Do any of you wise ones have experience with and how to remedy it?

I picked up a super clean 2220B from another AK member 2-3 years ago. It was immaculate inside and out but had the same "no stereo" issue. I downloaded the service manual and did a complete FM alignment, and it worked perfectly after that, with a bunch more sensitivity as well. There are other possible causes though.

Make sure it isn't just a failed indicator before you do anything else. Can you hear any change in stereo separation on a strong signal when you push the Mono switch in and out?

You do have an antenna plugged in? Where I live no antenna no stereo reception.

It could be one of the 10.7 MHz crystal filters too. Without looking up a schematic there's about 6-10 of them on the IF board. On a Marantz that's the board on the bottom side with the metal cover on it. If you get that far PM me about the Mouser part number and I'll reply here with it so all can have that info.

Did you clean the tuner?

I found a similar issue with a Sansui G-6000. It took about 3 cleanings of the tuner and the signal strength and stereo switching got better each time. It didn't really pop into life until I lubed the tuning bearings with a drop of lube. Try that to see if it helps.

I bought a Marantz 2245 for my sister a few weeks ago and cleaning didn't do the trick on that one. I had a pro align it and all is well.
