Marantz 2226 - preamp issue

Hello

Been searching for this issue some time now. When I hook up my ext. devices to Tape1 and Aux the left channel is extremely silent compared to the right channel. When I press the Mono button the sound is equally present on both channels, where would you suggest I look first

Have you tried cleaning the switches and controls with deoxit? There are some threads on DIY forum to help. Sometimes the Input Selector, Tape Monitor or Stereo/Mono switch contacts can get oxidized and lose contact. Here is good thread on cleaning controls:
