Marantz 2226B VS. Marantz 1070

Hi guys
im new here
I have an opportunity to buy one of these devices.
I know they are not the most powerful in terms of watts but the difference between them is like 6 watts
And anyway I think for my living room it will be satisfying
Is there a significant difference between the devices?
Is there one that is better than the other for sure?
I will note that the 1070 is slightly more expensive

Thank you very much

If you plan to never listen to FM radio, I would go with the 1070 — unless you just like the look of the lighted dial on the 2226b. I think there should be 9 wpc difference. 26 vs. 35.

Thank you for the answer
I also thought it was 26 watts
But for some reason it says in HI FI ENGINE that the B model is 29
Maybe this is a mistake ...
The reason I thought of going for the 26B is because of the other SPECS like the
Total harmonic distortion: 0.1%
Damping factor: 35
Frequency response: 10Hz to 40kHz

That if I understand correctly better in this model than in the 1070
Frequency response: 20Hz to 20kHz
Total harmonic distortion: 0.3%
Damping factor: 20
am I wrong?
THANKS

Looks like the 2226b is indeed 26 wpc into 8 ohms and has a damping factor of 45. The 1070 is listed at 38 wpc into 4 ohms, with no rating for 8 ohms in the service manual. I'm betting it is 35 wpc. In damping factor, the higher the number the better. But the 1070 only lists "greater than 20 into 8 ohms". The problem with damping factor specs is that the actual number is different with different speakers. So, how much is enough? According to an internet search, anything over 10 is adequate. I doubt you would ever hear the difference in 0.1% distortion and 0.3% distortion. So basically, it still boils down to power needs, whether you want a tuner, and looks.

I cannot speak for the 1070 but I've had a 2226B before and it was a fine receiver that definitely seemed like it had more than the 26WPC it advertised. Given Marantz's reputation I'm sure the 1070 is much the same.

As was said though, it all depends upon looks and if you want/need a receiver.
