Marantz 2230....anything better?

I've had 3 Marantz receivers. The 2230, 2270, and the 2285b. The only one I still have is the 2230. It is the best 30wpc there will ever be.

Maybe someone can enlighten me about the differences between Marantz 2230 and 2230B if there are any differences. I'm very curious because I bought a 2230B on ebay a few days ago.......still looking forward to receive it.....

I've owned more than a dozen different models from the 22XX series, and agree that the 2230 is one of the sweetest. The words "lush" and "tube like" that have been used in this thread give the right idea of its sound.

A lot depends on which speakers you are using, and what your listening preferences are. And any comparisons made with un-restored gear are basically meaningless, as components age differently. Also, as pointed out already, what caps (etc...) are used as replacements can affect the sound. But no matter which you use, I don't think you'd make the 2230 sound bad!
