Marantz 2230/Dynaco ST70 and headphones

Hi All-My current setup is a Marantz 2230 going into a Dynakit ST70 and new large Advents. I LOVE this sound and setup. Now my question…. Since converting my 2230 to a preamp, the headphone jack no longer works. Does anyone know of a switch I could use to quickly cycle the 2230 through amp mode (to use the headphone jack) and preamp mode to use the dynakit/advent speaker set up? Am I over thinking this? Thanks

If I remember, the headphone jack comes off the amps speaker output and not the preamp.

I used a Marantz 2230 as a preamp for two years with my Dynaco ST70. Makes a surprisingly good combo.

Sorry, but I’m not sure I fully understand.

While in preamp mode, my 2230 headphone jack is dead. No output at all.

Tape out is line level, no volume control and stilted.

When you split the pre/main you lose the front panel headphone capability. Currently, you use the pre out to feed the ST70, but you could use a RCA splitter or switch and feed back to the 2230, making sure the speaker buttons are 'off'. Then the headphones should work.
But, if you use a splitter you will be feeding the 70 at the same time as the 2230, so you may want to use a switching box, like a RCA 1 input, 3 outputs. I don't know how you power the 70, which doesn't have to be on to listen to the headphones? The switch box will allow no signal to the 70 if that is the position you chose, however, I do not know what that means to the 70 if it is on, but not receiving a signal? Is that ok? I'm not a tube guy!
