Marantz 2230 oops - what's this?

Hi all,

I've been working on the amp board of this unit and while maneuvering the board and heat sink around for access, one of these wires snapped off what appears to be some kind of smaller heat dissipation thingie that clips onto the main heatsink. It snapped too close to the plastic(?) component to try to solder it back together (although I could try).
Questions:

1. What is the small component that the wires go to that gets clipped to the heatsink - and can they be sourced? I can't identify it on the schematic.

2. Is there just another simple way of dealing with this problem?

Thanks!

Just answered my own question. It is a SV-3A diode. Apparently fragile as I have found out.

Some say the right substitute is the NTE605A.

There are threads here about replacing these with multiple diodes in series.
You also have nothing to lose by trying to carve away some of the plastic to expose more of the lead to solder to it.

Yes thanks! I’ve seen a few threads about that so I’ve started by using a drill press and the smallest bit I own from my father’s machinist set. Looks decent so far.
Will try soldering soon once I’m comfortable about how much wire is exposed.

I've done that successfully with a capacitor, and after that I didn't dare touch it. Then I sold that amp so I hope hope that guy didn't touch it either.

Just get that diode lead good and clean as best you can so you can get a big blob of solder on it. Use Helping Hands or something similar. Also I would place the leads side by-side and not butted together.

Nice job!
Those are fragile. I got lucky with the two 1060's and a 1030 I worked on. I was very careful not to brake a lead off. I had read about these being very fragile.

Thanks! I had a foggy head morning and forgot to release it from the main heat sink before working. Didn’t take many movements for it to snap off. Won’t do that again!

I didn't realize that there are NTE diodes available from one of our guys on that bid site?! I splurged some big bucks when that German seller was still selling original ones.
