Marantz 2230 with Marantz 4100

Hello All,

I am having a bit of a dilema. Here is the skinny:
  • Marantz 2230 with champagne face and wood case
  • Marantz 4100 Quad Amp
  • Marantz 125 Tuner

I have had the Marantz 2230 for 6 months and is my main set up with some 1969 Large Advents.

Just bought the pre amp and tuner for a steal (140 for the pair). My question is: would it be advantageous to hook up the 2230 to the 4100 or would that be blasphemy? Sell the tuner and pay for both? Or just keep both? (I know the answer to this question LOL). I really want to know what everyones thoughts are on hooking the 2230 to the 4100.

Note: 4100 is rated at 60 wpc 2, 25 wpc 4.

Well then, let me be the first with the obvious... of COURSE keep it all! :D

You could use the quad amp when you fell like cranking it up a bit or just want a different sound and revert to the 2230's output amps otherwise. Ya could just have two complete setups in different areas too. Time to go speaker shopping. :thmbsp:

But the 2230 with the wood case is the keeper... does it have an engraved faceplate ?
 
Well I think I am going to keep the 4100 and 125 and sell a nice Sansui 771 I have in the other room. Thanks for bringing me back to reality guys LOL.

where do you find this stuff? Even the Sansui I'd be proud to have.

But yeah, I couldn't sell that 2230 but at the same time the 4100/125 setup is also a keeper...
 
Surprisingly southwest Michigan. The 2230 was from a rich old builder from Holland, MI and said he received it as a wedding present, played it a handful of times and put it away in his basement LOL. Got it along with an engraved 2215 for $300 for the pair lol. Ahh the power of craigslist...

The Sansui was a garage sale find for 40, original owner said it was broken aka just needed new fuses lol.
 
win! I've picked up a few pieces like that but not many.

Forgot to mention, QOTSA is one of my favorite bands, too... I've actually been a fan of Mark Lanegan's since Screaming Trees.
