MARANTZ 2230

Hello fellow audiophiles! I need your help with a particular issue. I am considering purchasing a Marantz 2230 to drive my BIC Venturi Formula 6's. I am writing this to ask if 175.00 for this receiver is an adequate price for, and if it is a worthy purchase. Is there anything I should be looking for in terms of working condition that I should be on the look out for when I inspect it.

I think fair asking prices should be discussed in the dollars and sense board but that is a fair price if it's in good working condition.

The best the to look out for is that it works, in all modes. Listen for 15 mins or so.

thats a good price if its in good condition. the 2230 is only 30 watts per channel, im not familiar with your speakers but you should make sure it is enough to drive them.

Yeah I have BIC VENTURI formula 6 not the spec II version. I just have to clean up the Marantz it came from a smokers house what methods do you think are best? and thanks for your reply.

Let it sit outside for a year? Or use a product like "Air Lift" which helps deodorize and is probably safe to use on faceplates. Heh. Maybe don't test it yourself, I can apply some to a faceplate and see what happens. I think I have one that is good and nicotine yellowed to test with.
