Marantz 2230b and 2270 tuners compared

I was wondering if anybody could tell me the difference in these two models tuner sections. I have both models of receivers but the 2230b performs much better. It is more sensitive or at least it brings in the stations better. I live in an area that has few stations that will come in but the 2230b can bring them in much better than the 2270. I know there is probably some things that could make this a more apples to apples comparison such as alignment and cleaning or ?. I just don't know. The tech says the 2230b has a better tuner section (fm). If so, is there anyway to modify the 2270 so that the it could be the equivalent of the 2230b? Thanks for any info.

I would not attempt any tuner modification. The 2270 should be better and is likely in need of an alignment. But here's a quicky to check: look on the back panel and see if it has the attenuator slide switch in the more sensitive position. I think it says "OUT" for that but not 100% sure. That'll make a difference!

Got the 2270 tuner aligned! Made a huge difference! Full signal strength with centering of the tuning meter. It looks and sounds great with my Klipsch Cornwall speakers! Nuff said! No longer have the Mac 4100 or the HK 930, so I should change my log in name but I don't think that is possible! All great receivers in their own way. Enjoy one and all, the great sounds produced by your equipment!
