Marantz 2238 (not B) gets popping from other components

I have a Marantz 2238 that picks up a popping noise from some of my other components (on/off), has anyone found a cure for this nasty critter?
I am aware I can turn the 2238 off first & avoid that but am looking for a more complete solution. Someone told me to ground small resistors to the chassis then to the neg posts of the RCA inputs? Anyone try that?

Today I am installing a modern shielded power cable which I will ground to the chassis. I will report if it helps at all. My thought is that if the chassis is grounded & I ground the turntable to the 2238 via the external phono preamp it should work as the pre has a wall wart with no earth.

So let me get this straight... you hear a "popping" noise through the speakers when you leave the 2238 on, but turn other components either ON or OFF?
Here are some additional questions:
  1. What are the "other components" and what input do you have them plugged into on the 2238?
  2. Does the Volume control position affect the loudness of the popping sound, or does it not change?
  3. Do you have everything plugged into the same EMI power strip and the same wall outlet?
  4. It sounds like you have an external phono preamp. What input is it plugged into... the switched/unswitched power on the back of the 2238?
  5. If you do not plug this preamp "wall wart" power brick into the AC, do you still hear the popping?
  6. If you unplug all audio cables going into the 2238, then turn the power on/off on the offending audio equipment, do you still hear the pop?
  7. The U.S. 2238 was not meant to tie the chassis to earth ground so you could be causing more problems with ground loops.
  8. Lastly, the Power Switch has a separate contact that cuts power to the speaker relay L701 when the switch is turned off. Is that power switch original?

Sounds weird, but try flipping your plug in the all outlet around... this fixed a hum and some popping on my 2230... or try using a different outlet for some of your components.
 
Guys. There were two main offenders- a super modded AR-XA (has the recommended caps) via the NAD and a vintage lamp (MCM) that popped. Setting up the chassis ground via new power cable stopped them both.
The external phono is a super modded NAD PP2. I have done the mods on a half dozen of these & this was the first time I ran into this.
The units are plugged into a Shunyata Venom.
The CD (Ah Tjoeb) never popped and still does not.

There is one interesting thing I experienced with this experiment... I put a large ferrite choke in the new cable and it robbed all of the mid to high & made them muddy. I removed it and had instant clarity.
