Marantz 2245 Main Remote Speakers

Looking for a little clarification. I have a Marantz 2245 which I currently have hooked up to a pair of Infinity RSe speakers. I had a chance to purchase a set of Advent 5002's and I want to hook them up as well. Easy enough to hook them up to the remote speaker outputs so I can switch back and fourth.

The question I have is how is the internal circuitry of the 2245 handle the load if all four speakers are turned on? I am assuming the power output is 45 watts for two channels into 4 or 8 ohm loads. If both sets of speakers are turned on what power outputs goes out to the speakers. The Infinity RSe's are 4 ohm and the Advent 5002 are 8 ohm.

That is what I was wondering. Ohm's law still in play and it looks like it would be 2.67 ohms per side. Just wasn't sure the internal circuitry was setup like that. I have done car stereo installations for over 35 years and used to dealing with it. Especially when amps started becoming stable down to 1 ohm. So does the 2245 have the same power output to two speakers whether they are 8 ohm or 4 ohm? The spec's state that is the case.
 
My guess is that it handles 45W no matter if 4 or 8 ohms in the sense that if you have 4 ohms speakers attached you may reach this limit earlier in the volume setting, and if you go above that you may start to get distortion and risk damaging the amp due to excessive current.
 
No danger on those. Rarely even see 60% on the dial. It will be interesting to see what the Advent's sound like. They have been re-foamed but need a new veneer replacement. I think will take my time and get them looking good before testing. Ideally going to pickup a 2230 to power them up. Rebuilding a Dual 1229 right now to play on the 2245 and I have a Thorens TD-105 that I really like the sound of that will go on the 2230. The TD-105 is probably helped out by the Stanton 881S cartridge that was on it!
 
The speaker outputs are wired in parallel. You were correct that running 4 ohm impedance on one set and 8 on the other will present something in the vicinity of 2.67 ohms to the amp. Too close to a short, and likely to blow something up.
