Marantz 2252B panel lights

Looking for advice: is there a way (for a novice) to fix the panel lights on a 2252B Marantz receiver. I love the blue panel lights! I've attempted to upload a photo into this post. Thanks y'all!20190723_214523_resized.jpg

Replace them? New lights, LED and normal, are readily available on eBay. Search Marantz 2252B LED. If you open it up it's pretty obvious as to how to replace the lamps.
 
I have not replaced the lights on a 2252B, but on most 22xx receivers, it's a matter of removing the knobs, removing the faceplate, removing the dial face, which has velum taped to the back of it as a diffuser. The dial face bulbs are fuse types that are often replaced with warm or cool LED's because of their longevity and cooler running. Pop out the old incandescents and pop in the new ones. The input indicator bulbs are a little more difficult as they are bi-pin bulbs soldered to a small circuit board. They are changeable if you have good soldering skills, but you can mess up some things if you aren't careful. For new bulbs and velum, check with Randy (AK member runnindog) at irebuildmarantz.com.
 
Good news is the indicators on the silver face B series are already LED so no need to replace them. Just the general illumination bulbs which others have said are readily available in various color temps.

Couple of questions (as I've never opened the receiver):
1. Do I remove the face plate only, or does the black metal cover also need to be removed from the receiver to do this?
2. How do the knobs come off (if I have to pull the face plate)?

I was going to search youtube for an instructional video. If any of you experts have uploaded one - please let me know.

Go to YouTube and search “how to change bulbs in Marantz receiver”. A number of videos will pop up. The general method is the same among most 70’s Marantz receivers.
 
The faceplate does not need to be removed. The top cover does.
There is a board held by clips that obviously holds the lights. The clips will break as they are brittle from the heat. You'll need to find a way to reattach without the clips.

There is more than one way to skin a cat.
I only do complete restorations, so I take the face and knobs off first thing so they don't get damaged.
This makes it easy to go into the dial from the front so that the vellum filter can be replaced also (some don't have any).
Unless someone else has been in from the back, no broken 'clips'.

I changed all the lamps on my 2252 and everything functions perfectly until I switch the control to "FM" mode, at which point fuse F1 blows and all lamps go out. The unit continues to function normally except lamps. When the fuse is replaced, the unit functions with lights as long as the selector is not switched to FM mode. Any ideas as to what might cause this?

You shorted the FM indicator light.
 
There is no FM indicator light on the 2252 (this model does not have lamps to indicate which functions the unit is in). How could I short it by simply replacing a lamp?
