Marantz 2265B Mono switch repair

I have this 2265B with a broken Mono switch, and I am scratching my head as to what would be the best approach to repair/replace it. It seems too deep to do it from the front and removing the whole board seems to be a daunting task. I wonder if anyone worked on something similar.

You can just replace the shaft. There is a sticky on how to take these switches apart. Can be done with the switch still in place. Be careful when you take them apart - little springs inside that want to get out.

I did it with one that was longer, that I modify. They seem to be basically the same. I think you can buy new ones and interchange the shaft, or get a used one off of eBay.

I know I have at least one more switch you can have if it's compatible in length (not too short).

@Paul Malloy thank you - i think my 2265B has the shaft too deep to reach, I couldn't really pull the spring enough and access the locking pin. I might punt and just jbweld another button on top of this unless I find a way to get the shaft out of there.

I guess I can make this work after removing the preamp board (which I'll have to recap anyways)

CAUTION: Perform at your own risk! I haven't tried this.
I recall reading somewhere that the shaft will pull-out from the front if:

• You carefully remove the white plastic piece by bending up the tabs that hold it into place
• This will allow you to remove the bar that holds the brass colored clip that keeps the switch plunger from coming out
• Then I think you can pull the white switch plunger out from the front being careful not to lose the tiny springs or contacts
• You can then either replace only the plunger or repair the plunger and put it back together

One way to strengthen the broken piece is to drill a small hole in both the switch plunger and the piece in the button and insert a small metal piece or thread a screw into it. The you you can glue it all together. This could help the repair keep longer.

With the front panel off it can be done from the front. Most of the time moving the big big spring down over the top of contacts will hold everything in place.

Unfortunately this is a later model and the switch is different. I got a couple off the fleabay to experiment with - it seems the muting/mono switch for a SR1000 may work, fingers crossed!
