Marantz 2270 Headphone socket resistors?

Hi guys, I am replacing the headphone socket on my 2270 as the original fell apart in situ... My question in what to do about the two 47 ohm resistors that I believe were wired to the + L and R channels in the old socket and to a common ground. The new socket is a Monocor one (apparently the suitable replacement) but with 3 pins only (common ground and left / right I think).

Can anyone offer any advice on the resistors and correct way to solder it? Should the resistors simply sit in series along the signal path and the black wire go directly to the socket ground?

On your new headphone jack are the headphone connections internal to the jack disconnected from the pins on the back of the jack when it it not in use?

The original looks like it has 5 pins. 2 pins come from the L and R speaker connections, 2 pins go to the 47 ohm resistors, one for left and right, and one pin is ground. When you plug in the headphone the 47 ohm resistors are connected to ground. When not in use the 47 ohm resistors are disonected from the circuit.

Hey, thanks for the helpful reply. The new socket I bought is a simple 3 pin, so I guess that won't do the trick... I need one with 5 pins so that the 47 ohm resistors can engage only when the jack is inserted, correct? The resistors are there to prevent overload? I wonder why they need to be switched in and out?
 
There are lots of different headphone jacks that might work. Just do a search on the auction site for “marantz headphone jack”. It may have been used on a few different models.

Thanks, to be honest I am struggling to find something in Germany (where I am based). Might be best with a parting out socket from another Marantz I guess... Will look into it, cheers....

Hi! That was the assembly I pulled out - like I said, completely disintegrated! It does seem to be like you said, both resistors switched to connect between L and R to ground but only when the plug is inserted...

I was wondering if anyone knows of a source for a Marantz 22xx headphone jack. The jack in my unit is shattered. Did a search and didn't come up with anything.... Thanks
