Marantz 2270 left channel issue.

I have a 2270 that I have owned since early 2000's. I am the second owner. I bought it from original owner with all the original packing boxes (double boxed), owners manual, etc. It was a super-lucky find and I knew back in those days that at tag sale price he was asking (because his family clamored for surround sound 5.1 stuff) I was basically stealing it (I think I paid $25 or some such, I don't remember the exact amount). The only issue it had was the dark dial. Everything else was fine. It worked amazingly well and I was so happy. It was and still is my main rig even since, but with a caveat. Once I checked everything and made sure it worked well and replaced the dial bulbs also adding a voltage dropping resistor to the bulb circuit to prolong the life of the new ones (which worked a treat. They are still working fine), once I did all that, I almost right away disconnected the preamp to amp jumpers and proceeded to use the 2270 as a power amp while using an Adcom preamp I already had. Adcom had more inputs and it is just a fantastically transparent preamp, so I went with it. Fast forward to yesterday. I decided to give the 2270 a listen in hopes of freeing up the Adcom preamp for other purposes. Low and behold, the preamp of the 2270 sounds terrible now. Left channel is crackly and cuts in and out. I cleaned all the pots with deoxit, I opened it up and looked around, but could not come up with a game plan to troubleshoot. I guess I can start with the P800 board as I did in a 2230 I once had. I have not recapped or done anything to this 2270 other than the dial lamp voltage drop (which I recommend). I recapped the 2230 and also replaced the driver transistors on it, but the 2270 is almost 100% original. Should I recap it? The amp sounds great, btw as it is still doing this duty for me every day. It's clean, quiet and beautiful as ever. Problem is in the other sections. Please help with some guidance of where to start. Am I right to start with the P800? Also, please point me to a copy of service manual. I have all that stuff for the 2230, but the 2270 is unchartered territory for me.

Have Deoxited the tape monitor switches. While not a receiver tech I have seen this issue Marantz receivers. Had my 2270 recapped three years ago. Expensive well worth it.

I would test the preamp by hooking it to another amp and see if it still sounds terrible. If it does, the preamp is the place to look. If it sounds clean, might start checking voltages at the power supply that go to the preamp. My guess is it is dirty pots/switches or the preamp. Deoxit the push switches - especially Tape Monitor - and the input select switch. Faderlube F5 in the pots. Then, if still not right, recap the preamp.
 
I have measured the power supply at J808 and it was 35V and change. Perfect. I then deoxited EVERYTHING that moves. Pots were very crackly. I did the switches as well. I still had same problems after that. So I opened the bottom and looked at the preamp board and saw many caps. So I looked through my stash of leftovers from recapping my 2230 years back. I had the 100uF one and that's about all for the preamp. So I replaced the 100uF one on the preamp board and also replaced the two transistors on the phono board since I was already in there. I will have to properly go through the whole unit at some point. In any case, when I tested it, it sounded clean without left channel dropping out. I think that the deoxit did the trick and the first time I just did not give it enough time and cycles of working all the switches and pots. It sounds okay now, but not as good as my Adcom 565 preamp through 2270 amp section. I will definitely recap the entire preamp board soon. I simply wasn't prepared to do it just yet, but I will. I will also properly rebuild the phono board. Right now I have some signal bleeding from Aux input into the phono if I turn up the volume to the max and have a signal on the aux. I can hear it very faintly when phono is selected. Annoying and maybe selector switch is in need of more cleaning? As of now, I have it back in the system playing a role of a power amp, which sounds phenomenally good. But I do want this beautiful receiver to work in standalone mode properly. So I will likely go through the preamp and phono boards and see where that leaves me.

P.S. Where can I find a power switch for this beast? Shaft is broken on mine and the button is lost, I think :( I have it stuck in ON position and just use my Adcom's switched power socket to power up the 2270 when I turn on the Adcom. It works and the time constant on the relay caps is still very good the relay clicks on in about 2-3 seconds. Again, for future compleness I would love to have a working power switch on this beauty. I really love this thing.
 
Look on eBay for "Marantz Power Switch". There is a seller there that sells the switch and snubber for $11.99. I have bought several of them, and they are very good switches. That switch is no longer manufactured, so it is getting harder and harder to find them.

Thank you. I will try eBay. If you happen to have the name of the seller, I would appreciate a mention. I have hard time trusting ebay sellers without references.
