Marantz 2270 Power Switch

I want to use a Marantz 2240 power switch to replace the broken one in my 2270. The one in the 2240 has 2 wires and the 2270 has 3 wires. Can anyone help me to modify the switch to make it work? I have read that it can be done just not sure how. Thanks!

Look at the diagram for both, the 2270 has 2 contacts, one feeds the tranny the other feeds the switched outlet out the back. The 2240 has a single contact that feeds both the switched outlet and the tranny. You could double up both feed wire to the one pole on the switch for feed. The circuitry is different with a cap and resistor between the 2 plugs. Don't take my word for it, this is an educated guess. If you don't use the switched plug just disconnect it and run the 2 wires.

The issue I've seen with these replacement digikey switches, while they do work, the button won't fit, the original is just a slot, the new a square. I bought a new button off of ebay for my 2240 with the replacement digikey, the button has a female square but the switch itself was concave on the push part whereas the original is flat. There's a guy selling these digikey switches on fleabay for close to $30 a pop, nice profit margin :)

The old switch should have 3 posts on the other side, have you tried moving the wires over to the other side?

The power switch that I replace on my brothers 2270 had a square shaft. That doesn't mean they didn't change the switches to a flat shaft as time went on when they were manufacturing them.

Cool, I didn't look at the 2270 diagram, if that's the case all the better! The 2235 and 2240 use a slot from the factory from what I have seen.
