Marantz 2270 Speakers

Classicsound

New Member
Hey all! New to this, can anyone recommend a classic speaker ( 8ohm) that will work with this receiver? Maybe even a modern day speaker?
Listening to classic rock and blues, budget is about 1000 dollars.
Thanks in advance!

My advice is just go out and listen to anything and everything you can so you can build up a good preference of what all you enjoy.

Personally I enjoy the Jbl l100s and the original Advent loudspeaker.

Post your location and maybe there will be some local members that will let you listen. With your budget you should find a wide choice. That said when the 2270's were sold it was common to pair with the L100's, but also JBL L-65, L166, 4311 or L100t, many more good choices for that receiver.

I have a pair of JBL L100's coupled with a 2270. They are a fine match. This system is at my cottage in Leamington, Ontario. If you're in that vicinity, drop me a PM. You're welcome to come by for a listen.

Back in the day, my Rectilinear Lowboy's sounded pretty good with my Marantz. I would thing that any reasonably efficient speaker would work. I even heard a pair of Magnepans driven by a 2270 and they didn't sound too bad, all things considered.
