Marantz 2270 Troubleshooting

Hi all,

I've had my 2270 for over 15 years, and I've now run into an issue I'm hoping people here can help troubleshoot. Suddenly one morning I went to give it a listen, and it just didn't provide any sound. It powers on fine, but I can't get any audio out of the Tuner, Aux, or Phono. Anyone have any ideas? The night before this started, it had been working fine.

Please let me know if I should provide any additional info.

(NB: I actually had it worked on and recapped 2 years ago... here's a log the technician made of the makeover at the time.)

Thanks in advance.

I looked at the document in the link. Thankfully it had an "English" button so I could read it! Does the relay click after a few seconds of powering on?

I will also comment that no tantalum caps were changed out, and not the speaker relay. There was a factory change to the tone control board that they didn't do when they put new caps back in. None of this would necessarily cause your current problem.

Thanks for the replies. The tape monitor button isn't pushed. The relay indeed clicks after being powered on. I've tried the headphone output, as well as both sets of speaker outputs in the rear. Not a peep.

Plug some headphones into the Dubbing Out jack but don't put them on as it will be loud if it works. Anything there? If so, double check all switches and that the preamp to main amp jumper plugs didn't get knocked out. If not, I'd open it up and check the power supply outputs first.

Coming back to this post several months later. I didn't have luck with the above suggestion, so I unplugged the unit for a few months with the intention of finding someone to service it. On a whim I plugged it back in last week, and I now have sound coming from the Aux channel. However AM, FM, Phono 1, and Phono 2 still don't give me output via Dubbing Out or via the normal speakers.

I'm really at a loss here...

I'd first clean the pushbutton switches with DeOxit D5. Then I'd check the power supplies next if that doesn't do it. One is +35Vdc and the other is +13Vdc.
