Marantz 2270 Very Low/ Faint Volume

Hello,

I have a 2270 and the speakers and headphones have very low/faint volume when its cranked all the way, can hear the stations but faintly. The Dubbing output sounds fine when I plug headphones into it. Tunes fine. Since faint on the speaker and headphones I'm thinking an issue pre-phase but hoping someone more knowledgable could give advise.

That you so much. That is the issue. I had bought it used and they were not installed and thought the system was defective not realizing I needed to do that. I need to buy them, are the ones on ebay for about $10 (unshielded) OK? I notice you have a store, do you sell them?

For the time being, make your own out of coat hanger wire or use an old pair of short patch cords, then worry about getting the exact correct original parts if everything checks out OK. Most jumpers were not shielded although I have seen mention that some receivers work better with a shield (e.g. patch cords)

Don't use the coat hanger please (this is your RCA jacks talking!). This may damage them but for sure you'll get additional hum on Marantz receivers.

Your getting wise advice. i'm sure N8Nagel meant that if you did use them, it would be as a test and you would be rounding the edges and only putting them in so far as to not hit the end solder joint. all it takes is you sliding the receiver back against something, forgetting they are there. That is only one reason not to do so.
As N8Nagel/RandyB says, this is a hummer waiting to happen.
BK's offer is a kind one, considering the originals are hard to come by.

good point. I forget not everyone has a bench grinder handy :)

Anyway, a short RCA patch cord is the correct answer, if you have one laying around.
 
Short patch cord is working fine.
I hooked up some professional Bose speakers I had and man the sound is awesome. I'm no audio pro but the best sound I've ever heard. The only issue
is that there are a few lights out, mainly the ones for the meters. I'm thinking that's a fairly straightforward repair? I can search the forum as thats probably a common question. Again thanks for all the help.
