I have 2270, a technician here in Mexico repaired it and it sound amazing. Many new pieces installed
The only problem is the Am section, FM is working nice.
The station from 540 to 990 kHZ cant be syntonized. Technician couldn't fix it. He cleaned the air capacitor from AM and the FM one, he changed some capacitors on AM board, but the problem persist.

The rest of station have a decent reception.
Thank in advance for your help

Could it be that the moving 'fins' or plates on the AM tuning capacitor are touching the non-moving 'fins'?
The 'low' end of the dial is when the 'fins' are mostly meshed. The AM tuning cap is the one mounted on the outside of the shielded box.
If the 'fins' are badly bent or burred, it may be easiest to replace it with one from a donor 2270.
Also, the screws holding the AM board to the bracketry are the only chassis ground points.

Sadly there is no 2270 donor, should l try to fix the fins it they are bent? should I recap the AM board?

I have a 2270 donor chassis that still has the tuning capacitors. If you inspect the AM capacitor and find it damaged, let me know. I’ll be glad to send this one to you.
