Marantz 2285B European Face Plate

[dgunnr]

After several near misses over the past 7 years I finally managed to buy a Marantz 2285B with the original European black face plate. It is in excellent condition and is going to look stunning. I always felt the the 2285B was among the very best sounding Marantz receivers ever made and the original black face plate really turns some heads.

All I need to do is a few cosmetic touch ups then off to good friend and fellow Audiokarma restoration expert Salbreth1 for a full restoration. I may keep this and add to my collection (2500, 2325, 2270 engraved champagne and engraved silver face plates, 6300 turntable, M-16, Model 600, DS-940 and HD-880 speakers) or sell in my E-Bay account. Just happy i was finally able to get one a decent price in this condition.

I'll add photos when i get it back and post photos of all my pieces at some point. Hope everyone has been as blessed as I have enjoying this hobby and getting the Marantz pieces you always wanted.

Beautiful !!!

About "european" black faceplates : I've never seen any on sale here in Switzerland. Were they really for the european market ? It seems to me they are just as rare in the US as in Europe....

So, where did you find that beauty?

Hi baby chicken
I know you have helped with my 2270 engraved survey before. I think I received 2-3 serial numbers from you. Not sure how many 2270's with engraved face plates you have total. If you have more than 2-3 2270's, can you send me the serial numbers I did not get. Also let me know if there champagne or silver in color.

Do you have # 5,000?
