Marantz 2285B FM Circuit Board (P100) Cover is missing ..

Just picked up another 2285B in almost mint from the outside condition. With all original parts inside (as it appears) it does also sound very nice - don't think it will need any recapping anytime soon. However, the FM Circuit board cover is missing.

Have not checked if FM works yet, only hooked up and tried the CD player to the AUX1 last night.

Would anyone know, if this is a potential problem (dust, markings for adjustment, etc.) and/or why it would be missing in the first place?

Ok, found out there were 2285B models where top cover for FM module was simply not there. So now I am a happy camper, again.

Just found this older post, but here goes. I am also restoring a 2285B without a frontend cover. Curious if anyone knows why some have them and some don't? Or how to tell if mine should or shouldn't have one? Mine doesn't seem to have either the cover or the unpainted mating cover that you'd screw the black cover into. That mating cover is shown on the diagram in the service manual without a part number.

My 2285B doesn't have one either. I always assumed it was misplaced...interesting to hear some never had one.

The top picture has screws holding the cover on. The bottom picture has no place for screws to attach a cover.

Maybe the the cover was a later factory modification to improve performance etc.

yeah perhaps. FYI my serial number is 92U180087. There's no place for me to screw the cover into, but I believe those screw down points are provided by the unpainted mating cover which I'm inferring from the diagram on p 25/26 of the service manual. I circled that in blue in the attached screenshot. I have neither the blue or red pieces I circled.

Both AM & FM on this unit both work fantastically. The FM only needed a bit of tweaking L105 and CF04 to correct a consistent +1 MHz bias across the dial. The rest were pretty close to peaked.
