Hey you people, I have a question regarding the sound produced by a specific receiver. Does the characteristic sound of a receiver (Marantz 2285B in this case) come primarily from the pre-amp section or from the amp section of the unit? Reason I'm asking is I am considering adding another 200wpc Adcom to run the upper/mid/woofer of my Vandersteen 4's that are currently being powered by my 2285B. The subwoofers are powered by an Adcom gfa 555. This would result in the Marantz 2285B being used as a Preamp/tuner. Since it will require an outlay of cash I'm trying to get some predictions based on other peoples experience. Thanks for any and all input. Brien.:scratch2:
