Marantz 2285b source selector broken/won't work fix

I just purchased this beaufiful beast, and after firing it up i noticed that the left channel was not functioning. After a deoxit treatment both channels started working in tip-top shape but the source selector stop functioning completely. I could not move from AM/FM/Phone/Aux although the shaft was still turning nothing was indicating that it was actually changing the source (none of the AM/FM/Phono/Aux lights were turning on), I could play audio from my phone into the aux input but the sound was very low.

Afer panacking for a bit I realized the shaft that runs throuh the potentiometer(?) was not turning and engaging the correct contacts (see image below) although the knob was. All I had to do to fix it was unscrew the long shaft that connects the knob to the front face, and unscrew the boar to get better access. Turn the end of the shaft and push in until it slides back in, see image for more info.

Hope it helps someone else, I know I have gottent alot help from other members in this community so this is my small contribution.

Actually you didn't have to remove anything, just rotate the shaft until the slot in the front lines up with the connecting rod and push the rod in from the rear.
