I enjoy restoring Marantz 2325 receivers specifically by replacing old capacitors ("recapping") and making various improvements to enhance usability. A few days ago, however, the unit gave me quite a scare by producing an intense, howling noise. Suspecting that the BA312 transistor I had replaced on the PE01 board might be the culprit, I disassembled and reassembled the unit several times—only to discover, to my surprise, that the actual cause was a poor contact at pin J701 on the right-channel P700 board.
