Marantz 2325 rebuild questions

Hi all, my dad is doing a recap / rebuild of his marantz 2325 and we a few questions. So far he’s done the power supply board and one amp board. Our first question is does anyone know what the running temp of the big white ceramic resistor I circled in the pic? He also set all the voltages (idle etc). With the temp gun, his seems run between 140 & 180 degrees depending on where you point it. Does that seem normal or to hot for that area? And that’s after you play music for a while.

That's normal for large power resistors, I've seen supplies that run them as high as 200c... They're often rated for that kind of temperature and it's why they're in a big ceramic casing. It's always why they should always have their connections reflowed (if they're not replaced). They very often cook components around them.

For that very reason, after a discussion here on the forum, I increased mine to 150 ohm, 5 watt at 10%. Be sure it's mounted well off of the board also._DSC0285.JPG
