Marantz 2325 receiver broke wire on mode switch?

Hi. Anyone familiar with the 2325?
I am having a problem with the mode switch. The mode switch was corroded with green corrosion on one of the fingers that the disk contacts. So thats fixed but putting the switch back in i have a broken wire. I took pictures of the wiring with the switch out but not disconnected just incase during cleaning that a mystery wire would stop my progress. That didnt help as the wire must have broken off under the switch and under the rats nest of wires. Luckily. The wire in question is a lone heavy yellow wire that runs under the removable bank of 5 switches. It either connects to the mode switch or the selector switch right next to it. Its not obvious where this wire connects.
Here is a picture of the yellow wire in question that runs under the bank of 5 switches. You can see the mode switch above it.

Heres another pic of mystery wire. You can see the yellow wire with a piece of black heat shrink on it.
I pulled the wire up so it can be seen, otherwise the wire was i think below the switch somewhere. The bank of 5 switches is in place in this pic. Any help much appreciated.
Cheers.

Look closely at the terminals of the switches, with some good magnification. Look for a small spot of copper on the solder terminals. There will be a tiny spot of copper (the center of the wire) where the wire broke off. The other option is to follow the wire to it's other end, see what it is connected to, and use the schematic to determine where it broke off from (then use method 1 to verify that you are correct).

Hi Bob. No luck in seeing that. :) After dis assembly. I see that wire goes to J320 of the FM MPX box. Unfortunately my SM shows no schematics.

Looks like a coax signal cable goes from J320, through a 2200pF cap somewhere, and ends up at pin 12 on wafer 3 rear of the mode switch. It might take some comparing to the schematic to figure out which pin is #12 based on other wires on that wafer. Could the 2200pF cap be that brown cap hanging off the back of the switch?

I happened to have my 2325 on the floor next to my workbench. Took a few pictures. The yellow wire terminates with black shrink and a single white end. With the receiver upside down and looking in from the front the wire connects to the tab with a small ceramic or film capacitor. Back row just to the right of the screw that holds the assembly together.

Hopefully these help.

YESSSS MBuras. Thats it. Its soldered to the same terminal the cap is soldered to. Very nice.
Coincidentally. Randy emailed me a pic that shows exactly that so its consistent. :) Very very nice.
Much appreciated folks for helping me.
I will get it back together. Hopefully the problem mode switch will no longer be a problem.
Cheers

Unfortunately the cleaned mode switch is still faulty. What happened originally is the mode switch did not work, clicked on its detents.I would only get right channel. The switch would work if i set "stereo" in between the detents between "stereo" and "right". I would get both channels . If i set the mode switch between "right" and "left" i would get sound in the "right" channel. Its like the switch inside was cock eyed not lined up with the detents. So cleaned the switch and broke off the wire. Put it back together and now i get no sound out of left channel. I do get sound out of right channel if i set the mode switch between "stereo" and "right". So i need a mode switch. I will take it apart again and see whats what.

I would spend some time studying that switch. Something along that main shaft has gotten out of sync - either a wafer or the detent wheel that makes the stops. Not sure what it would be, but anything would be better than replacing the whole switch.

I think maybe i will take the switch right out. Take it apart. But what i find weird is before i cleaned the switch i could get both left and right channels with the switch set cock eyed. Now no left channel at all. I dont know if the mode switch is even available. I replaced the volume control originally as it was seized solid.

That switch will have to come from a parts unit. As far as I can tell, it was only used as a Mode switch on the 2325 and 2330 (non-B). eBay is the best bet.

I have my mode switch removed and apart. Any suggestions what i can soak these parts in to clean up the connections? Maybe brush em with the wifes toothbrush and what chemical?
Cheers. Gonna lick this thing yet.

Thanks N8. Im in Canada. :) I have the parts in citric acid(lemon juice) so i will let em soak.

A good one may show up on eBay or BT eventually but will go fast once it is. Trying to refurbish yours is probably your best bet to get the receiver back in service soon.

I listened one on EBay last year and sold within an hour.
