marantz 2325 speaker companion...

A couple of questions. I am looking for some new bookshelf speakers that will pair nicely with my marantz 2325. I currently have the Klipsch wb-14 and they are fine, but looking to upgrade, (without spending an arm and a leg of course)

Last question...does anyone have exact dimensions for the wood case for the 2325? Going to build one this spring.

Thanks!

Got it......my case is the WC43 and measures 7" high, 20 1/2" wide and 16 1/4" deep. The front portion of the top has a wire mesh screen built in and don't forget to build in four nice stubby legs for the case - looks a lot better and helps with ventilation.

As far as speakers go, I've matched my 2325 up with most everything and it's always worked out fine. The mid range on it does wonders for vocals, classical - I just bump it up one click off flat and it brings eveything into focus. It does get a bit warm with 6 ohm speakers but only after extended play. Never tried it with 4 ohm speakers.

I'd take a look at the Paradigm Titans if you're set on bookshelves. Decent build quality and nice sound.

"new" or "new to you"?

how big of a "bookshelf" speaker (Large Advents, KLH 5 and AR3's are all technically "bookshelf" speakers)

budget?

used, low-med budget, Smaller Advents. great sound, can be found refurbed for under $150/pr

maybe some of the AR 10" models, like the 2ax or 48s

newer, the AR308HO's, the little brothers to my 312HO floorstanders

new, bigger budget, Martin Speakers have intrigued me

Thanks for the advice! The paradigms seem intriguing as well as the Martin 310x...now to go and find a dealer to listen and test.
