Marantz 2385 connector woes

Checking out this 2385 and I have no output on preamp side. Scope from amplifier is nice. No output from tuner even. Poking around after getting the selector switch fixed ( shaft slid out place ) and putting that contraption of a mess all back together, I noticed what looks like some wires cut from a connector? Anybody confirm and possibly they know where the wires originally were ?

Please tell us which boards (PXXX) and connector number (JXXX) the wires on each side go to. I can't tell from your photo. Also, there should be a marking of pin 1 on the black connector (it might be a triangle or number.

If this is the connector from the schematic with wires that go to the LEDs, then it is J068 and the schematic shows that the RED and WHT connector pins do not have a wire connected to it. I can't see all of the wires on the other side of the mating connector to see where they go to.

I got signal. I was one pin off on the double connector. What a total insane setup.. not a fun unit to service

Truth! Pieces of junk, but not quite as bad as the 2500/2600.

No argument there, they sound great! Just horrible to service, boards at right angles, wires flying through all that mess up front.
