Hello I have a doubt about biasing different versions of Marantz 250 power amp.
1) I note that there is a version 1 (mk1) that the manual specify to bias the amp with a wattmeter and a voltmeter.
2) As seen on bulletin m-250-3 the specify to adjust bias using a multimeter reading Mv (between 24-30mv) across R531 & R532.
In service bulletin m-250-4 they also specify adjusting bias with a multimeter in the same resistors but between 12-15 mv.
Im trying to bias my Marantz 250 (mk1) using the method of the bulletins because I don't have a wattmeter. but the bias drifts. Normally it stays around 13 mv, sometimes it can go up up to 17mv or down till 10 mv.
My question is , as the mk1 was the first version of all , is this one is prone to drift bias a little more , and that is why they made the revisions?
I saw a video in youtube of a guy restoring a Marantz 250m and when he biased the amp, the amp stabilized really nice in 12Mv and didn't drift more than a few decimals.
My Marantz have been recapped , new transistors replacements, and a few new resistors on the amp boards . I changed some resistors on the power supply, al caps and changed the relay and diodes. I just left the original transistors transistors.
Maybe somebody that worked on all versions can tell about the difference on bias stability between the different versions of the Marantz 250.
