Marantz 2500 terror.

HAL9000

i like marantz!!!
I got a marantz 2500 receiver in working condition for 300,-(euro)
That is very nice price... however when i asked to open the cover (i'm not stupid) Their was a print missing, and i think there has been a party in the 2500. everything is messed up!

very weird, and i'm missing two resistors.....

Of everything the power amps are original and working fine.....
Also the Fm tuner is receiving Stereo and functioning fine too.....

Missing print!!!! i need a loudness filter print. I will make it myself ( after i get my ordered service manual)

The power supply board has burned out resistors leading to the scope unit. Indeed, the scope will appear(spot) but will not move on sounds..
The power transistors of the scope board are burned out + the Fets aren't working either...

Soft start??? what is that cap for the power switch doing there??
soft start still work, it's a miracle.

The front is in very good condition, lot of dirt scratches but no dents or major damage!.

I only need some parts to make this receiver 100% original, most of these parts i have from donor marantz receivers. But i still need to get a volume knob and the loudness and filter print.. Does anyone have such components of a donor 2500??

Reminds me of my terror 2325:scratch2:

I am sure, YOU are going to fix it!!!

Good luck! ...oh, and sorry, I dont have a donor 2500. :D I dont have one at all. :D

:beerchug:

Well, having FM stereo and working power amps is a good thing. :thmbsp: Looks like someone did a bad job of replacing those dual core filter caps. I'll be watching this thread with interest. :lurk: Good luck, HAL!

I saw the other terror editions :tears: indeed how people treat equipment sometimes.

Well i will try my best in restoring this 2500 :thmbsp:

Sometimes it seems that the better the gear is, the more abuse people will heap upon it. Just very sad... :tears:

BUT! - It's nice that this receiver is in the hands of someone who, no doubt, will see it put back into the shape it should be in. Good luck getting it all sorted out, and congratulations on getting a receiver that will soon be a real treasure (again)! :thmbsp:
