Marantz 30/300 speakers

I just "accidentally" bought a set of Marantz 30/300 speakers on Ebay. (I really should stop thinking I'm going to be outbid.) I've been trying to get some information on them and whether they're worth the trouble. Does anyone know anything about these speakers--like what era they are from and that sort of thing?

Of course, I found out that I "won" the auction for the Marantz speakers right after I won an auction for a pair of really nice AR-4x's. Right now, I'm using a pair of Altec-Lansing model 95 speakers, that I'm not entirely happy with and I suspect either of my "new" sets of speakers would be something of an upgrade.

Any thoughts/opinions?

Moved to Dollars and Sense forum!

Orions doesn't list a 30/300 or at least I couldn't find anything by that model number.

Pic's might help to identify them!

I haven't been able to find much on those models myself, I've seen the 25/250 on eBay which looks like kindda cheap compared to the 30/300's I've seen on there. Myself I picked up a pair of 45/450 awhile back for 10 bucks, 4-driver 3-way with a 12" woofer which I refoamed the other day. So far that seem to be the top of whatever line that is. They are very well built and balanced and have a nice sound, however the bass isn't as deep as my other vintage 12" speakers. In terms of bass I'd say they are a closer match to the 10" speakers I use on my system. I'd expect less or comparable from the 30/300 given the 10" woofer.

Really now, if anyone knows more about them please share! :p:
