Marantz 3300, 250, 120B

What's the going rate for a setup of 3300, 250 and 120B be today?

I'm looking at two setups. One is untouched, the other one has been serviced and recapped. How much would be a fair price for either setup? Both are in a cosmetically good condition and in their wood case. When looking online, the prices seem to differ quite a bit.

Unless the recapping was done by a well known shop and there is a receipt to prove it, the effect on value is generally fairly low (especially for Marantz). With wood cabinets, assuming 100% working condition, and VG/EX cosmetics I would put the 3300 and 250 in the $800 range and the 120 somewhere around $600. So $2200 total. For a local sale, especially if it's a package deal, I'd be aiming for $1800 or so (obviously less if you can manage!).

Check the serial number on the 250, the early models were known to be marginally stable, the later ones were somewhat more robust. Regardless, if it hasn't been serviced it will need to be, there are several resistors on the amplifier boards that I have never seen be anywhere close to spec (I've had two 250 and one 240 across my bench, we're talking 50%+ out of spec).

Thank you Ross! My 250 is the in low 3300s, do you happen to know how many of these were made?

I live in Scotland and I don't know of any vintage Marantz specialist at all in my country. I've seen a few service kits available from eBay, are those recommend in general? (I've plenty of good hifi service people here who will help me but not so sure how good they are at sourcing parts for these Marantz)

Somewhere around 8-9000 I believe, I'm pretty sure low 3000s is Rev 0 (I want to say 3500 or so is the transition to Rev 1 and 6500 is Rev 2).

There aren't any particularly weird components in the 250, so the only thing the service kits get you is convenience. Personally I like to order the components myself because I like to know exactly what I'm getting (for example, all of the pictures of the kits on eBay show radial electrolytic capacitors, most of them should be axial. It's a minor detail but to me it speaks poorly of the attention to detail of the person that chose the components). A place like Farnell should be able to supply everything you need.
