Marantz 3300 preamp

I am running a 3300 with a DC170 power amp, but the phono stage is so quiet. I have tried both 1 and 2 channels and the levels are about the same, which leads me to think there is problem with the turntable (Denon DP-57M) I am wondering if the moving coil cartridge (DL-301 Denon) requires an external preamp? Do I have a mismatch with the Marantz 3300 and the turntable/cartridge?

The DL-301 is not a high output MC so the output level is low.
The 3300 has no MC input so there you go.

Use a MM or high output MC.

You could also use step up transformers for the DL-301.

Yep all good...any suggestions on a step up transformer? Do I need to look for a specific one? Cheers
