Marantz 3300 Questions

Hey guys, so I have a Marantz 3300 on the bench for a recap, but wanted to check on a few things.

The unit sounds very nice overall, I have already done the 3 cards. And I think everything is okay but had a few questions.

Is there any benefit to putting in modern transistors? This unit appears to be a later models using 2N5087s and SPS1928s. And none of them seem noisy.

And, my main question, is it normal for this unit to out out a fairly loud "pop" when turning on? I was measuring about 500mv DC at the output when the power button is hit, after that there is no measurable DC and the unit sounds nice. I noticed there is no delay circuit or anything like the 3600 or 3800 have so I wanted to make sure what I am seeing is normal.

Any tips for getting access to the boards? Doesn't look like the daughter boards separate from the front panel motherboard, assuming the the whole shebang has to come out as one piece?

They come out quite easily actually..... One screw and they pop out, are you sure you're working on a 3300?
