Marantz 3600 Pre-amp - Switched outlets no longer power on with pre-amp

Hi,

I do have a Marantz 3600 pre-amp running very well with a Marantz 140 but since this week for a specific reason, when I power off the pre-amp, the amp stay on now (before, it power off with the pre-amp.

I did not open the Marantz 3600 case for now, but is there anyone having experience of what can cause this?

I'm using the power switch on my Panamax powerbar for now to power on the whole unit.

Thanks in advance!

Presumably you've confirmed the amp didn't accidentally get connected to unswitched outlet of the preamp?

Exact, it's connected at the right place where it should be, at least the amp into the switched outlet behind the Marantz 3600.

I do have also something else in the switched outlet, now power on as soon as I power on my powerbar, which it wasn't like that before.

It's like all outlets are unswitched outlets now (well the two switched outlets have the same behavious than the unswitched outlets).

Based on the schematic it appears the power switch is of double pole single throw (DPST) nature. One pole turns on the preamp, the other turns on the switched outlets.

Perhaps the switch has malfunctioned and the contact is stuck or welded together on the switched outlet pole.

As a general rule of thumb, high current devices like amplifier are best not connected to switched outlets of preamp (regardless of the ratings). It causes more wear and tear on the power switch.

I'm not clear on the new symptom. Is it possible the other connected device backfeeds the switched outlets?
