Hello there!
I have a preamplifier Marantz 3600 with a Marantz 140 and seems like the power switch on the Marantz 3600 is now defective. Here the history :
Since a few days, I realised my Marantz 140 VU meters was dimming a lot for no reasons. I checked the voltage of the outlet and seems be 120V stable. I also have a UPS saying 120V from another outlet and is not kicking (no AVR trim or AVR boost). I listened music for 5 hours yesterday and the VU meters on the Marantz 140 was dimming for the first hours. My first thought was the power switch on the 3600 so I played a bit with the power switch (move it left and right, pressing a bit but not power off) and all was back to normal.... but I said myself maybe I got chance.
At the end, I pressed the power button on the 3600 to power off the unit, and I saw the Marantz 140 was doing exactly the same thing (VU meters dimming a lot). I left the power button on the 3600 pressed "On" and for now I'm using the power switch of the powerbar instead to power on/off the stack.
This morning, I powered on the unit (by the power switch of the powerbar), I powered on my tuner 112, tried again to power off the 3600 and I saw it was doing the same (the FM/AM lights, where is the numbers for tuning like 98.5FM...96.9FM...94.3FM... etc, was dimming).
It's why I'm thinking that the power switch on the Marantz 3600 is now defective.
Any thought on this? If it's really the power switch, I will replace the power switch so if someone can align me where I can buy it that will be appreciated. Dunno if there is a special part or a standard.
Thanks!
Guy
