Marantz 4230 Oscillation

Hey guys,

Latest project is a 4230 I actually bought for the decoder and the wood case, so the receiver cost me about $100.00. I was billed as LED upgrade, De-Oxit and functional. What I get is functional until you start to turn it up, then the power oscillates (sound up and down, lights up and down brightness and the DBT bright and dim). I am thinking it is a power supply problem as the last one of these had a cap on the power board that had rotted through. I don't have all the parts to re-cap, but have ordered them. Am I barking up the right tree thinking it is a power supply issue.

its likely just fine .. its the dbt causing this issue ..quite normal for this happen when on dbt

Ok, should I hook it up on the live line and see, or should I up the bulb to 100w, it is a 60w now? I never had this issue before.

so long as its fine at no volume and lamp dims and stays dim yes plug it in ...

That was it, although I didn't crank it, there was no oscillation. Thanks Pete! Would a 100w bulb have given more 'head room'?

yes ..higher wattage lamps allow more power through .
