Hi Everyone...first of all, this is my first post in the Marantz forum. I picked up a 4230 for free and got it working just fine. Until I noticed that someone had done some mods to it, and managed to mess up the treble and bass controls. What is happening is the outer treble and bass VR's are controlling both channels, while the inner pots are doing nothing. I looked inside quickly and did not see any foul play with regard to wiring being re-routed. Everything looks original and all the wires are wrapped around their posts. I will check the manual's wiring diagram tonight to be sure, but was wondering if anyone has heard of this symptom before? A prior service from someone else revealed a bunch of changed components on the right side amplifier board, but it sounds fine on both channels, and is in stereo. Am I missing something with the settings on this model? any ideas?
