Marantz 4240 Quad Receiver Fader Issues

Hello, I have a Marantz 4240 receiver that has a strange issue. All channels work fine but the front to rear fader seems to have no effect at all. Has anyone else experienced this problem before? I do not believe it to a dirty control because it really has no effect. There is no dropout or variance in the volume at all. Any suggestions?

My Quadradial 4 + Stereo 2 mantra: NEVER. EVER cycle the rear panel 'Power Mode' switch with the unit turned on.

Do you have two pairs of speakers connected to the Front and Rear MAIN speaker terminals? Is the rear panel power mode switch in 4x17W?

It's possible someone bypassed the fader if it went "faulty" although it may have just been dirty.

Thanks guys, since it does absolutely nothing I am guessing someone defeated the control. I spoke with my Marantz tech and he seems to feel it is disconnected. Yes, all 4 speakers are connected and yes, it is in 4 speaker mode, although my Marantz guy tested his in both modes and the fader worked. I will remember not to change it while live. I am just going to let it go for now, the dimension control gives me enough variance. I bought a beat up 1070 and I am going to try to do my first re-cap (figure it is a good candidate. Thanks again Audio Karma
