Marantz 4430 help.

Hello AK'ers.
I'm working on a beautiful 4430 unit.

Promblems:
When playing in MONO, left and right speakers sound (and sound amazing IMO)
BUT when playing STEREO no sound... Well a Lot of noise and a very very low music volumen.
I think someone tried to repair it before, but left a mess with "mode" selector.

If someone has a photo of the right way the selector must be conected, Will he more than usefull.
Here is mine.

HELLO.
I have the schematics, thank you.
Maybe what i need is some explanation about how to read properly the wafers.... it is sometingh i never understand...

example:


S006 -5F
means:
switch 006, wafer 5, front?

i´m confused with this.... i tried to follow every single line, but i can´t.

some tips about will is appreciated. where is supposed to be the in and the output for AUX in this selector??

Yes, I think you are correct in your switch meaning.
Here is how I would approach it:

• Create a couple of tables with columns of switch wafer sides and rows of switch wafer pin numbers.
• There are many pins that are not connected (shown in gray).
• In each square list what signal is soldered to that pin.
• If there are multiple connections, list them.
• Connector pins are shown as Jxxx.
• Numbers in (x) are wafer pin numbers.

I did this late at night so it may not be 100% correct, but you can double check it.

i did something like you did, but one by one wire tracking on the service manual.
After several hours working on this, i finally could get stereo sound!!!!
the only problem is check a conection in service manual and schematic that didn´t work, i think SM schematic is wrong.
1).- S005, WAFER 1 PIN 10: SM SAYS it should be connected to S006 wafer 3 pin 7.
this don´t worked, right channel didn´t sound.

2).- S005, WAFER 2 PIN 10 conected to S006 wafer 3 pin 7 works properly!!!!
even in the table you did, the conection is like 1.

SM error????
or something else could be bad with selector???

for now i´ve only teste aux frontal in & aux rear in.

i hope there is no probles with the others inputs.

In addition, i should have to say this quadrial have a beatiful sound in estereo, plenty of power and a warm sound.
