Marantz 4430 tuner problem

Hello All
I have a Marantz 4430 that does everything well except for the tuner.

It doesnt have full range. If I take it all of the way to the left , I really have to nurse it awhile, turning the big dial for awhile until it starts moving to the right.

It doesnt tune as well as My Pioneer either. I get a lot more snow on the Marantz.

What do I need to do to correct this?

Out resident tuner guru is in Michigan.

The string does not appear to be loose. It doesnt feel loose.

Box it up & put it in a truck...

I get the impression that the dial cord need to be tightened (often needed on Marantz) and the tuner needs to be realigned to jack up the sensitivity.

I have the same model i had a similar problem after removing the receiver top cover i found the wire for the indicator light on the tuner hanging up once i redirected it the problem was solved hope this helps
