Marantz 6100 donor for 6200, interchangeable?

Hi AK members,

I’m relatively new to this community. I would really appreciate any feedback and advice regarding fixing the Marantz 6200. There’s hardly any information on the net and AK regarding this. It seems like there aren’t that many 6200 owners and units out there!!!

I’m trying to replace the spindle gear on a 6200. I can only find that part from a 6100. Is this part interchangeable? Thanks in advance!

I did find organ donor parts. They don’t have the part for 6200, only for 6100! They weren’t sure whether the 6100 could be used in the 6200. I thought I’d found my big break.

Has anyone tried swapping parts between the models?

After digging and exhaustive searching, the spindle is different between the 6100 and 6200.

There is plethora of other brands and parts that’s interchangeable with the 6100. Since the 6200 is an auto start/stop model, it doesn’t share all the parts with the 6100. Hope this helps someone else! If you have a working main spindle (with a non-stripped gear) please message. Thanks!

If you take some pictures of the parts on your table that will be helpful. I expect I have seen the part but having it here in context will be good.

Hi,

These aren’t pictures of my 6200 spindle. Above the gear, there is a lone tooth that drives the trip mechanism. Mine is stripped so it doesn’t engage the metal. It looks different than the pictures of the 6100 spindle.

Ok, now I get it. I've seen similar parts in a Toshiba for example.

There are a couple of things you might try with your existing parts. You need that nib to touch the metal thing. You can take Mohammed to the mountain or bring the mountain to Mohammed.

Increase the diameter of the plastic above the cog with something like heat shrink tubing. It will wrap right round the nib and shrink tightly into place. You could even embed something against the nib, like a small sliver of metal, card or a toothpick. The heatshrink will hold that in place too. You barely need a mm or 2 I bet.

Or, you could perhaps wrap some heatshrink around the metal piece to produce the same effect. They simply need to touch each other sooner or more reliably.
