Marantz 6100 inconsistent reject lever

Hi. I just grabbed a fine 6100 which functions great except for an inconsistent reject lever. When engaged, sometimes it activates the auto-return immediately, other times you need to hold it for 10 seconds before it engages. Auto-return works flawlessly when the record is finished playing. Any thoughts on least invasive first attack to get it operating more consistently?

I was able to fix it. There is a metal connecting arm that looks like a bent paperclip. It stretched out and wasn't fully engaging. I went from the bottom and squeezed it together a few times to tighten it up and that did the trick.
