Marantz 6100 TT problems

I picked up a Marantz 6100 TT last week for really cheap (cheap = problems). To start off, the speed of the motor is too slow. Is there a way to adjust this or fix it? Secondly, as you bring the arm over (engaging or disengaging the motor) there is a loud pop. I though it might be a bad connection somewhere, but don't know where. I opened it up and didn't notice anything obvious. My guess it is some where in the tone arm base. Any ideas?

Plus does anyone have a copy of the manual for this?
