Marantz 6200 auto return issue

Hi everyone, I'm in need of assistance for a issue I can't find posted.

I have a marantz 6200, when I ran stock marantz headshell with Stanton 500 gold body 500 on side, the automatic return seemed fine.

I recently put a techniques headshell with a Stanton 680el cartridge, by the way is taller than the 500.

When it gets to end of record, the automatic return does engage fine, but it whips back and drags the record.

Is this caused due to much lighter headshell, and maybe counterweight is full forward on tonearm, as with the marantz headshell it sat back much further.

Or does the eccentric pin, from the manual states, might need adjustment to raise auto return height.

I'm thinking about putting the 680el on the marantz headshell, thinking maybe that'll work, then the counterweight will sit back on tonearm.

Has anyone had this similar issue, and found a fix, guess I'm holding off on flipping table upside down just yet, don't want to adjust anything I don't have to.

If the needle is dragging on the record during the auto-return. The cue arm height has to be adjusted. The 680 is a taller body than the 500.

The cue arm height is only dragging the record when the auto return engages at end of record, funny thing is if I manually raise the cue arm lever as auto return is engaging, the height is then fine, the tonearm returns perfectly to it's rest, so basically using the cue lever manually it's fine, only when the auto return function engages there is the dragging on record.

The manual does mention for full automatic operation, adjustment of arm height is effected by the eccentric pin.

And manual operation is effected by means of the adjusting screw.

My issue is only in automatic operation, and the Stanton 680 taller cartridge height is causing it, because it was fine with Stanton 500. But all manual cueing with the 680 is fine.

You will need to take a look underneath. When the auto-return mechanism is engaged it pushes up the cue arm. The mechanism pushing up the cue arm might not be engaging properly.

Yup that's probably a good chance, just how to get a view of it while it's operating, it's is engaging as it lifted my marantz/ 500 cart. Setup just fine, but the taller 680 isn't clearing, wouldn't there be an adjustment to raise it up some, unless its being blocked, or hung up somehow.
