Try steaming gently several times .
^^This.^^ If you examine that scratch carefully, you'll see that there is little to no tearing or removal of the wood fibers. Instead they've been compressed. Steam will swell them more or less back to their original state and restore the surface.
A warning, however. Steam can damage the varnish. It'll pull it right off if you use a steam iron pressed against the wood itself. I use a steam iron to repair scratches in veneer on speaker cabinets but only after removing the old finish. If you're not prepared for all that work, you might try using something like this.

Lifting of the veneer is one of the reasons I typically use an iron. I have used a steamer like the one I linked to and never lifted the veneer but there's always a first time. Unfortunately, there's no non-destructive way to determine the type of glue Micro Seiki used so we don't know whether the application of steam will cause any harm but I suspect not.

Well, finished the cosmetics, turned out nice. Bought a new dust cover, cleaned and polished this baby and she really shines!
Moving on to the internals next. Has the typical lift issue where the arm pops up too hard at the end of a disk.
Thanks for the advice on the scratch.
