Marantz 6350 Stylus Overhang

Marantz Turntable Cartridge Alignment/Overhang

My Marantz 6350 didn't come with the special Marantz 45 adapter with overhang markings and my eyes and hands are not up to protractors.

If anyone has a Marantz 6350 or 6300 with their overhang set by the Marantz 45 adapter/overhang gauge, do you happen to know the distance between the headshell flange gasket and the stylus? I searched here and Google everywhere finding just one suggestion of 53mm, but another message contradicted it.

Thanks.

Vinylengine lists the overhang as 15mm on the 6300 - this is stylus to spindle. Not as easy to measure as the gasket to stylus, but doable.

It's pretty easy to draw the equivalent of the 15mm Marantz device. It would look like this. I'll email you this one if you want.

OK, seeing the drawing of the 45 adapter made the light bulb go off. The overhang mark on the adapter is 15mm from the center of the spindle and needs to be rotated so that it's in a straight line with the spindle and tonearm pivot. (That's the part of the equation I was missing.)

So I can take my generic aluminum 45 adapter, make a dot with a Sharpie 15mm from the center of the spindle, and have the same thing. Seems obvious now.

Thanks for the assistance, guys. Once my cart arrives and I get that done, I'll post the resulting measurement from the headshell gasket to the stylus tip for the next Marantz owner Googling for the same shortcut.

Me too, please!

Thanks for taking the time to draw that, Bob_in_OKC. I would appreciate a copy as well.

Bringing back to life...

I have a Marantz 6350 and no 45 adapter. As the OP many moons ago indicated, the service manual does not offer an overhang measurement.

This thread indicated that the 6300 setting was 15mm.

To me, the 6350 tonearm looks really different from the 6300. Anybody with a 6350 out there who can confirm or correct the proper overhang measurement?

I also tried measuring myself and using the calculators on vinylengine and the conrad hoffman software, but the fact is I don't really trust my spindle to pivot measurements.

FWIW I measured spindle to pivot as 199.42 mm, calculated overhang around 17.03 mm using IEC and Stevenson A settings on the Hoffman generator...

anybody know the overhang or willing to measure it from your stock 6350 45 adapter?
