Marantz dual cap question

Hey all, Just a quick question about dual caps. Several Marantz units use dual caps and many on this forum replace them with two single caps. My question is how do you figure the values necessary for the 2 single caps based on the value on the dual cap. Thank you in advance. Rich

Thank you for your reply. I have not opened the unit yet to look but from Bob's picture, you would need 2 6800uf 85v caps to replace the dual cap in that example, correct. Are all the dual caps in Marantz units marked in this fashion (when I looked at the SM it did not show a value)? I am about to do a 140 amp but have several others that have dual caps that I never replaced when I re-capped them and would like to in the future.

here is my 2285B with a Dual cap and some stacked caps for comparison. i was going to restuff the case and decided not to. I used perf-board and made some adapter boards then mounted paired caps on them and used the original mounting holes. Anyone after me who wants to revert back to stuffed caps for the OEM look can easily do so. I even used the OEM ground strap on the bottom

Not Marantz, but dual caps: My Onkyo A-10 had two soup can sized capacitors labeled as 13,000uF (easy to tell they are dual caps by the three wires in stead of two) They were replaced by four 15,000uF caps with some creative wiring and moving the transformers to make plenty of room in the chassis to allow them to fit.

Hey RT,

I've used a pair of 661-E36D750N183TC79M with 75-1245860036A brackets from mouser for three 140 projects. For transistors, I replaced the diff pairs with gain matched KSC1845s, and used KSC2690s for the 2SC1318s.

Thanks, Jerry, Will order the transistors with my Digi-key order, the relay recommended in the post you referred to does not come up, I have an ‎MY2-02-DC24‎ in my order for this unit. Unfortunately, the brackets are also out of stock, so I think I'm going to stick with Tom's recommendation
