Marantz HD 880 Vari Q plugs!

Howdy and Season's Greetings to All!.........I am trying to find out if the Marantz Hd880 shared the same size Vari Q plugs as the HD 550. I see a pair for sale from a set of 5500's with a 2 inch diameter description ( don't know if the foam plug was that diameter or the plate itself is that size and no answer from the vendor as they away at the moment ) but when measuring the port on my Hd 880's get a measurement of 3 inches across. Can anyone chime in and tell me they are interchangeable?..thanks

I dont think thay are the same size. Any CNC shops near you? You could have a couple cut out maybe even engraved? I have a friend with a laser cutter that while doesn't cut through thicker metal over 1/8", it will engrave. Or have a trophy shop engrave them.

Hey Lavane..Thanks for the quick reply..I may have to resort to that and there is an excellent post (somewhere) of an owner doing that exact thing to produce a set. I really wanted an answer to that size and I concur with you that they are two different sizes. Cheers and a Happy New Year.

The 2" plates will work but you will see more foam around the edges, and may need to cut new 3" foams. Wrong plates better than no plates, only you can make that call. Or just make hardware store plugs. I did and used them until I found vari-q plates and hardware in good cosmetic condition (used the foam that I had cut for the hardware store plugs) for what I thought was a reasonable price.
In a bind a pair of socks will work to plug the holes, don't laugh, it's really a thing and has been done for a long time.

Oh, I think the 880 and 550 plates are the same, but the 5500 are smaller.
